One of those Sims -likes we saw earlier this year, oh how I do love talking about the Wholesome Directs, and this week we got a little sneak peek into the character creator. This would be a broad gene, given it encapsulates playing god with a house full of sociopaths, as well as, the god that can type “motherload” faster than anyone and do what millennials can only wish of doing, build a big house. Instead, we’ve seen the emergence of the Sims -like. I'd be tired of The Sims if I had to keep making basically the same video over and over with a new layer of paint lol.Say what you will about The Sims 4, its countless expansions and remedial updates to fix some of the issues we all had on its launch several years ago haven’t entirely fixed the game. It's good to have something else similar, but new to make videos on, to keep your audience interested, and to give yourself time to spread out content ideas. Edit: I think it's also important to mention that for a lot of these YouTubers, playing The Sims all the time trying to make interesting content gets boring after a while. But, like I mentioned above, some people probably just want to keep the hype up, so that Paralives has a decent launch and provides some kind of competition to The Sims. And don't forget that some channels are just sellouts, they'll run where the money is, if Paralives means they'll make more money when the time comes. On the topic of YouTubers wanting to jump ship - A lot of it is just trying to get views honestly. I tried Cities Skylines and it's a cool game, but Simcity will always be in my heart, even despite all of the issues the last Simcity game had, but I haven't played it in ages since it was last abandoned. Many of us have played The Sims for so long that it's basically 'the game' to us at this point for this sort of stuff, but I'm sure a lot of people will check it out. In regards to Paralives, I'm not too excited, but I applaud any attempts to make a decent competitor to the game, to improve Sims as a side effect. I like build/buy mode of The Sims 4 compared to previous versions, but the gameplay is kind of boring/lacking depth in ways that can't be easily fixed by a new pack. I bought a lot of the Sims 3 packs, but I was still excited for The Sims 4 when it released. The Sims 4 is a bit long in the tooth at this point, as it has been out longer than any other Sims game in the past. Honestly, The Sims 4 is lacking in a lot of areas at the core, that need to be resolved in a new edition of the game(unless they mess it up more). However, I think I'm more excited to hear about The Sims 5 than new Sims 4 content. I haven't invested as much into Sims 4 as most of you, so keep that in mind. Gaming is a romance, like a little lover to savour but will not tell. The current TS has experience from its own failures, deep pockets, diverse, dynamic, and growing clientele in spite how the vocal and likely, minority, feels. Right now, they are drawing feedback from Sims Mobile - feedback that is dynamic, active, and in a way that consumers don’t feel it. I believe much of the experience to actively build TS was drawn from its other simulations in the early 2000s. It is a simulation with a unique blend of building, life, and character. There were city building games like Caesar, Pharaoh, Zeus. There were simulation games like Transport Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon. Look at the other Sims franchises that came and went. TS lasting 20 years? That’s a lot that they have weathered. And if it does, vast majority of any business close within 10 years. And even if a business succeed for 3 years, it may not last till the 5th year. That said, many don’t truly understand what it takes to make a business succeed. The potential clientele of Paralives may drive the starters crazy in future.īut I’d love for them to become competitors. It is annoying to me that all the simmers I follow on YouTube seem about ready to jump ship to Paralives. I’m probably just being stubborn since I have played and enjoyed the Sims since I was 11 (25 now) and part of the reason I love it is for the nostalgia factor and the Sims humor. I see the value of the Sims having a competitor, maybe their prices will go down or new content/update frequency will go up? I see some value in that, but I m just not interested in getting invested in a whole new simulation platform. I am not interested in the Sims 4 being left behind for “bigger and brighter things”, I’d rather they take time making the Sims 4 bigger and brighter after the community’s investment.Īs for Paralives, I could care less. It took me almost 5 years to even make the switch from Sims 3 to Sims 4. I would rather the team put time and new content into the Sims 4 rather than make a jump to Sims 5. I barely have time to play as it is, and I already have all of the Sims 4 expansion packs.
